December 2025

A Note About 2025, Annus Fabulous

2025 was a monumental year for TRSC.

It was perhaps our most important since 2020 when Philman and I decided to stay on the phone and continue chatting about putting together a project to change the recipe for equity in the foodservice industry.

This year we built on last year's foundation for change through programs, partnerships, and possibility models — all backed by research — to ensure that Black Canadians and other equity-denied groups get the opportunity to showcase the best of themselves in an industry powered by multiculturalism.

This year was a testament to grit. With back-to-back projects demanding our attention for most of the year, 2025 asked us to push a little further, review a few more times, and rest for an extra day to get back into the groove.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

You might be wondering how Phil and I accomplished so much on our own. The answer is, we didn't. We were honoured to work with ten fantastic contractors to make the magic happen and we were buoyed by your positive energy.

Every word of encouragement you spoke aloud, every email you responded to, social media post you liked, and silent celebration you sent our way was felt and appreciated. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or have recently joined TRSC’s ecosystem, thank you for being here Reader. Your belief in a foodservice industry that works for us all is powerful.

What to Look Forward to in 2026

  • Our Stoking the Flame report with national insights to help employers recruit youth jobseekers and create better guest experiences
  • Our Stoking the Flame at Work toolkit with checklists, guidelines, and printable forms to bring equity into the workplace
  • The return of the Black Experience Pavilion at the RC Show in Mississauga (March 8-10)
  • Hire Her, Too (March 24th), our industry-leading networking mixer in Toronto
  • A 3-month content series profiling Black women leaders in foodservice in MENU Magazine

2026 opens a new chapter on the story of The Re-Seasoning Coalition and we can’t wait to see where the journey takes us this time. Keep the encouragement coming and feel free to check in on us via our Instagram or LinkedIn pages. If you'd like to play a bigger role in expanding our impact next year, feel free to add to our refreshment fund or set up a larger donation by emailing finance@thereseasoning.org. We're grateful for you.
